Cheers to the weekend - Or Prost! if you’re in the Oktoberfest spirit! We’re rolling out the weekend with some German jams and the tiles they remind us of.
“You and I in a little toy shop buy a bag of balloons with the money we’ve got…”
Paragon Hex interlocking tiles from Island Stone embody the spirit of Nena’s 1983 hit 99 Luftballons. We love Paragon Hex for all the same reasons we love this peppy German song – it’s a little fun, a little funky, and something we can rock out to in the kitchen!
Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 is a masterpiece of classical music. Going along with that classic feel is our Burano Black & White stone mosaic. Nothing is more timeless than natural black and white stone. Other Beethoven classics like Fur Elise and Moonlight Sonata which make use of the piano are a great fit for this tile inspiration too.
Another 1980s chart-topper (it was #1 in Austria, Germany, and US Billboard Hot 100) is Falco’s Rock Me Amadeus. Both a tribute to the classics, Love Affairs has a lot in common with this high energy tune – classic looks like marble and wood but with a new hip twist when it comes to shapes and patterns!
If you’ve been to the movies in the past few decades, you’ve probably heard the works of Hans Zimmer. He’s penned the soundtracks for films like Pirates of the Caribbean, The Da Vinci Code, Batman’s The Dark Knight Triology, and The Lion King. New Ravenna’s Wild Ones mosaic from their KIDDO collection is a fun nod to Zimmer’s The Lion King soundtrack.
