One of our favorite things about Summer, and especially the Summer of 2021, is the ability to have some getaway time with family and friends, whether it’s for a night of board games or a relaxing week at the beach. One of our favorite things about these wonderful opportunities is to soak in some interior design that’s not your own, and it’s interesting to see what kind of design styles a beach house rental might present, from the bathroom tiles to the living room decorations. Of course, design is all personal, but it can be fun to live in a space that someone else designed and see how it might even influence your own design tastes! This week, our top 5 design inspirations are centered around beach, vacation and coastal inspirations, as we take a trip to some gorgeous destinations and feel relaxed in the sunshine. Take a look below for our five featured posts and let us know your favorite in the comments below!
Our first featured article of the week show us all the necessary tips and style ideas for any modern beach house interior. Specifically, “coastal design” is “often confused with nautical or Hampton’s interior design styles. However, what sets coastal interior design apart is the laidback yet chic look.” While some consider the style too tacky, it’s often mistaken for it’s nautical sense, and when done right this relaxing style can make any home feel like a high-end island getaway. Expect to feel cool, calm, and collected with plenty of blue hues, ocean-themed decorations and more! Our second design inspiration of the week takes us close to the ocean, as we’re making waves in the interior design scene with these beach house design ideas from Country Living! We loved the living room shown above, as once again it’s filled with the calming blue hues that remind us of the ocean, and how the windows offer the great view while not taking away from the centric design theme. This living room has “post-beach-pre-dinner-nap” written all over it, and we love how comforting it looks! Check out the rest of their design inspirations with the link above!
20 Best Coastal Designs of All Time, Southern Living
While everyone might have their mental image of what a beach or vacation home should look like, a backsplash as stunning as this one isn’t typically associated with the coastal theme. However, it’s important to remember your surroundings, and greenery can go underappreciated too often. Adding a sense of calmness, and of course feeling connected to nature, palm or even banana leaves can be utilized to add an island-y feel and accentuate any interior. The contrast with the dark table as well as the stunning backsplash makes this a gorgeous kitchen!
Our fourth design feature, coming from Dezeen, highlights the details of Zozaya Arqutectos series of beach homes in the Mexican village Troncones, which were designed to “mimic the fluidity of waves”. You’ll have to check out the rest of the pictures for yourself, especially the exterior photos, in order to really capture the art of design that was utilized during the design.
