Types of Finishes

Polished
Polished finishes are glossy and very reflective. They intensify color and geologic activity. Crystalline stones like marble and granite take polish best.

Honed
Honed is a form of polishing that works for non-crystalline stone like limestone and travertine.

Textured
Textured finishes use a tumbled-process to create an old and rustic look.

Bush Hammered
Bush hammered finishes are beaten with a hammer whose face is cut in points to create a rough surface texture.

Cleft-stone
Cleft-stone is split instead of cut with a saw

Brushed
Brushed is a surface that creates a casual worn feeling. Brushed may be combined with other finishes and leaves a smooth touch texture on the surface of the stone.

Tumbled
Tumbled finish uses sand, pebbles and water to create a aged surface on the top and edges of a stone.  It can be applied to a variety of different natural stones, however some stones are too soft to tumble.
