Top 5 Design Posts of the Week - Patios, Pools, & Outdoor Kitchens - Architessa

Happy Monday to all of our design lovers and tile enthusiasts alike! We hope everybody was able to enjoy some sunshine with last week’s high temperatures and spend some time outside whether that be a patio, a nice long walk, or even creating some fun meals in an outdoor kitchen. This week’s top 5 design inspirations are all about having fun in the sun, as we feature some patios, pools, and outdoor kitchens for your next exterior remodel.

Whether you’re working with a large backyard with plenty of exterior square footage, or if you’re working to make the most out of a smaller space, we’ve got you covered. With a wide selection of patios, swimming pools, and outdoor kitchens, we’re here to help make sure you home is ready for some Summer fun. Check out our top 5 design inspirations of the week below and let us know your favorite!

1. A Better Backyard with Chic Patios

58 Chic Patio Ideas for a Better Backyard, House Beautiful

Our first featured inspiration brings us all the patio designs for the backyard of your dreams. There’s beauty to be found in the details, such as spicing up an outdoor space with chic decorations that don’t require a lot of effort. Patios come in all sizes and shapes, and it’s important to make sure your outdoor sanctuary is a place where you feel comfortable and collected. Check out the wall-planters in the 8th inspiration, we love the minimalism effect while also adding a nice contrast effect to the wall tone. We’re also big fans of the creative tile design in the twelfth patio, as it’s a unique solution to the typical wooden patio or deck. Check out the full list of 58 outdoor patio inspirations in the link above and let us know your favorite in the comments below!

 2. Coral Mountain Residence Pool

Andalusia at Coral Mountain, Houzz

Our second feature of the week brings us to Orange County, where Pekarek Architects designed a residential pool that looks more like it belongs as a feature of a five-star resort. Complete with surrounding natural stone work that brings a Mediterranean feel to the home, this residence has it all. Check out the details on the pool and surrounding interior design, and just imagine the sunset view this exterior space provides.  3. Outdoor Office Studio

SurveyMonkey’s HQ Gets The Ultimate Work and Amenities Space, WorkDesign Magazine

Our third outdoor inspiration isn’t a typical exterior space you’d find in the backyard but provides a functional workspace as well as a relaxing area to lounge and even meet with clients. SurveyMonkey’s new outdoor office space located in San Mateo’s Bay Meadow district in California has all the latest and greatest design features, and is the cherry on top of their newly renovated HQ building. Design for the space was created by Surfacedesign, and also had lots of employee input - “As a corporate environment, SurveyMonkey is very informal. Employees were invited to project design meetings to review drawings and provide input on details such as color palettes.”

4. Backyard Swimming Pools With a Luxury Feel

30 Spectacular Swimming Pools That Will Make Your Backyard Feel Like a Resort, Veranda

If you have the space and the permits, a backyard pool is the perfect centerpiece for any Summer day when the sun is shining. Verandabrings us their list of 30 backyard pools that would fit right in at any resort, and the details are stunning. Arizona Cardinal’s Coach Kliff Kingsbury showcases his Arizona residence pool, shown above, which comes complete with a “clean grid pattern of turf and hardscape that echoes the home’s geometric architecture.” We also loved inspiration 8, the Made in the Shade exterior space complete with an egocentric swimming pool and plenty of lush greenery. Check out the complete list of 30 pools and tell us your favorite in the comments below!

 5. New York City With a Lush Feel

Outdoor Living in NYC, Dwell

Our final inspiration of the week brings us to New York City, where (believe-it-or-not) there’s a field of lush greenery hidden inside an alleyway. Homeowner Brad Zizmor purchased the property back in 2007, and the unit was barely a fraction of the space it is now in terms of design complexity. Zizmor’s parents even told him they thought the purchase was a mistake, but with careful planning and the help of Zizmor’s design-firm partner Dan Folger, the space was transformed into a exquisite unit filled with light and life. The renovation almost seems impossible to believe, and if it weren’t for the pictures we’d be doubting it too! Check out the whole unit and all of it’s glory in the link above and let us know your favorite feature!
