New Tariffs Increase Imported Tile Costs

Dear Valued Client:

As many of you are aware, the U.S. government has formally announced a tariff increase for certain goods made in and/or sourced from China.  Architectural Ceramics (“ACI”) has watched closely the events leading up to this announcement and would like you to be aware of how we are uniquely positioned to minimize the overall impact the new tariffs will have on our clients.

Effective September 24, 2018, an additional 10% tariff will apply on Chinese tiles including tile made of ceramic, stone, cement and glass.  Furthermore, there is a high likelihood that the additional tariff will be raised to 25% beginning January 1, 2019.

While we have worked hard to move our Chinese imported products through the port quickly before the new tariffs go in to effect, we do expect to see our costs increase.  We will look for opportunities to minimize the impact of these higher costs, however, clients should be aware that ACI will increase prices on Chinese imported products.

The good news is that ACI sources the majority of our products from the U.S. and other European countries, and we are able to offer you many comparable options from both a design and pricing perspective.  We would be pleased to discuss these options with you for all of your current and future projects.

For questions about the new tariffs, and product options for your current and future projects, please reach out to your sales representative.

We appreciate your business and continued support.

Best,

David Benson

Principal, V.P. of Sales

P.S. We are working closely with industry trade groups to stay abreast of future developments in the U.S. – China trade relationship, and will provide updates as applicable.
