Architessa extends a heartfelt congratulations to Marie Page - winner of the 2024 Coverings Rock Stars award! Marie is a Design Consultant in our Rockville Showroom.
We spoke with Architessa's Marie Page about her design experience and what she's most looking forward to at Coverings.
Q: How do you feel being chosen as a Coverings Rock Star?
A: I was totally caught by surprise - I did not expect to win! The more I learned about the Rock Star Awards, the more I understood how special it is. I am honored to have been chosen as a Rock Star award winner. This is my first time attending Coverings and I'm so excited!
Q: What’s your design background? Why did you get into design?
A: I have been in the design field since 2015. I started working with custom closets and then moved into commercial design - specifically senior living. After I had my son, I discovered the tile industry and have been at it for six years.
Why design? It was meant to be! As a child, I would redecorate my room each season, and I was even a color consultant for my parents.
Q: What is your design ethos?
A: I put a lot of thought into this question. It all comes back to understanding your clients. Sourcing the right materials and creating a comfortable living space all depends on your ability to act as an interpreter for the client - translating their thoughts into functional, beautiful spaces.
Q: What’s your favorite 2024 tile trend? What’s a trend you’re looking forward to seeing at Covering?
A: I'm excited for rich, warm hues - deep green, mustard yellow, and earthy tones. Also look for textured tiles and dimensional pieces like fluted tiles and wood-look slats.
Q: One piece of advice for other industry peers?
A: This is a fast paced industry and it's important to remain passionate and innovative. Ask questions, learn about new materials and solutions, and push the envelope. Sometimes this means breaking rules and boundaries for the sake of creativity. One last thing no matter your profession - treat others how you want to be treated.
The Coverings Rock Stars – an Emerging Leaders Program – honors the best and brightest young talent in the tile and stone industry. The program, celebrating 10 years, underscores Coverings mission to support the growth and success of the industry by recognizing top-notch talent and fostering networking and educational opportunities.
