As we enter 2025, it's exhilarating to explore the upcoming trends that are set to redefine our living spaces. From intriguing color palettes to the re-emergence of classic design styles, the world of interior design is poised for vibrant transformations. Join us as we delve into what's predicted to be the essence of style this year, where even the timeless allure of tiles finds its place amidst these 8 trends.
It's no shocker that brown is a trending color this year after Pantone named Mocha Mousse their 2025 Color of the Year. But we'd be lying if we said it was the first time in 2024 we saw brown surge in popularity. Between the popularity of Japandi and the revival of Mid-Century Modern, wood slat wall panels, wood-look tile & LVT, and various hues of brown paint - brown has been poised to lead 2025 since early 2024.
No single shade represents this trend, but many - ranging from light oak to mid-toned mocha to rich-red mahogany and dark walnut, the entire color family has dominated design lately. These shades offer a grounding presence that's both timeless and versatile.

Berry hues have seen a noticeable lift in popularity over the past few months, which I think began with the announcement of two berry purple paint 'Colors of the Year' - Rumors (MQ1-15) by Behr, and Cinnamon Slate (2113-40) by Benjamin Moore. Rumors is a true berry, and Cinnamon Slate is a dusty, muted version of the color.

Berry is a tad more subtle and flexible than normal purple, allowing better design flexibility with other elements. Berry purple tiles such as our HUSTLE Plum and berry purple paint can transform spaces into vibrant, stylish havens.

Celebrate the natural world with earthy tones. Beige kitchens, clay-colored walls, and accents in yellow and gold bring warmth and a soothing palette to your space, making it an eclectic sanctuary of calm and beauty.
Look at Sherwin Williams's "2025 Color Capsule of the Year", and you will see it's largely dominated by an earthy color palette. Other colors, such as SW's Accessible Beige paint, have also gotten much attention lately. Earthy yellow tones fit nicely into Art Deco, where gold and antiqued finishes are heavily utilized. Natural stones such as Travertine, Caramela, and Calacatta Gold bring natural, earthy tones to designs.

100 years after its origin, Art Deco has returned to breathe new life into modern spaces with bold geometric patterns, lavish gold tile accents, unique wall art decor, and rich jewel tones, epitomizing the opulence of the 1920s. Art Deco design is bold and glamorous, reflecting the optimism of the post-war gilded era.
Halfway through the 2020s, we are seeing an upturn in this aesthetic, which contrasts with some of the other trends this year. Despite the contrast, the common trend we see in all of these is that they all add character. Out with monotone minimalism, in with eclectic interiors!

Craftsman-style homes emphasize handcrafted authenticity and attention to detail, again marking a return to design with character. With earthy colors, natural materials, and intricate woodworking, this style creates a timeless appeal that celebrates simplicity and craftsmanship.
Craftsman aesthetic is primarily seen residentially in craftsman cottages & farmhouse style homes featuring handmade and natural elements, décor, and craftsman tile. Wood & wood-look tiles are very popular in this style. Wood-look porcelain tile can help bring this aesthetic to commercial spaces, thanks to the added durability.

Last year, we predicted that fluted walls would be a popular design element in 2024, and the sheer amount of it we saw at the national tile trade show Coverings 2024 confirmed this prediction for us. A revitalization of Mid-Century Modern in 2024, starting with the iconic Eames Chair and ending with wood slat wall panels, carried this design element to new heights. By 2025, it has evolved tremendously.
Wood has always been a crucial design element, both structurally and for aesthetics, but typically, only a single variety of wood is used. Recently, we've seen more mixed & textural usage of wood. Mixing wood colors, patterns, layouts, and furniture can create intriguing natural texture and depth.

Leading the pack here is wood slat wall panels, carried over from the MCM craze in 2024. Parquet wood tile & herringbone wood & wood-look tile layouts have also seen increasing popularity. All 3 of these add tactile dimension, which compounds when you combine them in the same space. Dark wood has also become more popular lately, commonly paired with lighter contrasting tile, wallpaper, or paint for a moody look.
It lends itself well to Craftsman, Japandi, and Scandinavian design styles, where wood is also a primary element. Wood-look porcelain tiles can make mixing wood easier, as it is extremely versatile & can be used in more ways than traditional wood, such as in the shower. Wood-look LVP is also a cost-effective way to bring the look into residential & commercial floors.

This trend is still early and in development, but we have recently seen a handful of uses of circular & round design elements, typically in tile and décor. Half-moons & small circular patterns are popping up all over the place in design, and I suspect this will materialize into a larger trend throughout 2025.
The best thing about emerging trends is that each new creative use in a design has the potential to steer the overall trajectory of it. Circular mosaics such as penny rounds or waterjet tile mosaics are a great way to incorporate circular tile into your design.

The grandeur of natural stone is unmatched, especially seen in large marble slabs used as feature walls and countertops. Stone is as much a material as a look, and new materials such as marble-look porcelain slabs offer the same aesthetic with more versatility.
Statement stone accent walls & stone slab feature walls are at the epicenter of this trend, often seen on marble kitchen backsplashes surrounded by other tiles such as mosaics or subway tile. Other fixtures such as natural stone fireplaces, bathtubs, and stone sinks also lead this trend. This trend also favors dramatic marble veining, such as in Calacatta Gold Marble, Tuscano Rosso Red Marble, and Nero Marquina Marble.
