Chips & imperfections should be expected in any terracotta tile. These chips have been stained and fired in the kiln. This is very much a part of the old-world artisan hand-made design and it is recommended that you leave these exposed when grouting. Not all samples & boards may show this time-worn characteristic so it’s important to explain this to customers when specifying this product.
As with any natural or made-to-order product, it is important to have the purchaser triple-check their take-offs & order extra as needed to avoid any add-on order problems.
