Tile is what we do, but without architecture there would be no buildings to tile. This Women's History Month, we salute the women who blazed the trail in the architecture industry.
Marion Mahony Griffin
February 14, 1871 – August 10, 1961
A pioneer for women in architecture, Marion Mahony Griffin was among the first licensed female architects and was the first employee of Frank Lloyd Wright. In addition to designing everything from buildings to stained glass windows, she also created beautiful watercolor renderings of Prairie School architecture.

Julia Morgan
January 20, 1872 – February 2, 1957
Prominent California-based architect, Julia Morgan, is best known for her work on Hearst Castle in San Simeon, CA. She was the first woman licensed as an architect in California and the first woman to receive the Australian Institute of Architects Gold Medal (post-humously 2014).
Zaha Hadid
October 31, 1950 – March 31, 2016
Iraqi-British architect, Zaha Hadid, was granted the title of Dame by Queen Elizabeth II for her services in architecture. Among her most prominent works are the Guangzhou Opera House, London Aquatics Centre built for the 2012 Summer Olympics, and National Museum of Arts of the 21st Century (MAXXI) in Rome.
